The Angel Topside fabricated by MMHE is part of the North West Shelf LNG development of Woodside Energy Ltd. Clough Aker Joint Venture (CAJV) had the Main Contract for the Transport and Installation of the Angel Topside. Dockwise was subcontractor to CAJV, providing the Black Marlin as the main installation vessel.
The topside was positioned on a deck support frame with a height of 21 m. The topside was fabricated at MMHE in Pasir Gudang, Malaysia and was skidded directly from the quay over the side onto Black Marlin. The skid-on operation took 16 hours. Strandjacks were used to pull the topside on board. After seafastening, the Black Marlin departed for offshore Western Australia, where, after 3 days of in-field preparation work, the Angel topside was safely installed by float-over operation in 7 hours.
